How do I know if my board needs upgrading?
Warning signs include rewirable fuses instead of switches, no RCD test button, a wooden backboard, buzzing or warmth, and frequent tripping. If your board is decades old, an inspection is worthwhile — we'll give you an honest answer either way.
How long will my power be off?
Most consumer unit replacements are completed within a day, with power off for only part of it. We'll agree the timing with you so it causes as little disruption as possible.
What is an RCD and why does it matter?
An RCD (residual current device) detects electricity leaking to earth — through a damaged cable or a person — and cuts the power in milliseconds. Old fuse boxes don't have them; modern consumer units do. It's genuinely life-saving protection.

Yes. Every board we fit is fully tested to BS 7671 and you'll receive the certification paperwork for your records, your insurer or a future house sale.
